Come To the XX Amazons Uprising 2026!

Thursday, October 15th through Monday, October 19th, 2026
In Northwest Arkansas

Please spread the word about the Uprising using email, email lists and word of mouth. Cautiously post information on very private, womxxn only social media groups that you feel are safe. Please do not share information about this event on any other social media because of safety and security concerns.

  • Gathering to build Lesbian-feminist culture, and an earth and female-centered world
  • Working to end patriarchy, including colonialism, racism and all oppression

Join XX Amazons for feminist community building and discussion at this political, cultural, educational, spiritual, female-bonding event. This year our Uprising will focus on building Lesbian-feminist culture, and on bringing an end to patriarchy.

The XX Amazons Uprising is a growing circle of radical Lesbian-feminists and other Amazons. Female born womyn of every generation, color, class and other diversity who have a commitment to creating and protecting female only spaces are welcome. Come for radical Lesbian-feminist discussion and to celebrate our female selves, our Lesbian selves, and our culture of strong feminist wimmin!

About the Event

The Uprising will be both serious and festive. We are interested in bringing Lesbians together at every level, from international to local, from online to here at the Uprising. Daily community meetings are at the heart of the Uprising’s philosophy. This year our meetings will focus primarily on ending patriarchy and building and sustaining Lesbian-Feminist culture and womyn’s community.

All workshops and activities at the Uprising are created by the Amazons who come and will reflect our community’s interests. This could include workshops on anything from ending female erasure, to building Lesbian and womyn-only community, to ending male domination in all forms, to goddess spirituality, to fighting racism in our communities, or stopping authoritarian, right-wing takeovers. We can discuss ecofeminism, nature awareness, Lesbian land, matriarchal cultures in all forms, or whatever is of interest to you!

While there are many festivities at the Uprising, we are not a festival or business. No one makes a profit from this event. At every phase, from planning to final cleanup, the Uprising runs on the work of volunteers. Attendees must be willing to step up and pitch in! There will be a sign up sheet for filling short work shifts such as dishwashing and meal preparation. The goal is for everyone to take on an equal share of the work, so that no one is overburdened or burned out. We follow the matriarchal model based on each woman cooperating for the benefit of the whole group. The Uprising works by power-with. We come together as equals, work cooperatively and treat each other with respect.

At this event you will find workshops, community, singing, drumming, strategizing, organizing, good vegetarian food and plenty of powerful womyn and Lesbian energy. We encourage womyn to join together to plan a ritual celebrating our female selves and our connections to Earth. Come to the Uprising to talk to and develop relationships with Lesbians and Amazons who share your blazing desire to end patriarchy and create an earth and female-centered world.

Womyn of every generation, race, ethnic background, and class are welcome to attend, including those women re-identifying with being female. Womyn of Colors space in the main building will be available if any womyn of color request this space. If you are a woman of color, please let us know your desires on your registration form.

The XX Amazons’ Uprising is being organized this year by a group of eight Uprising Planners, which includes the three XX Amazons Planners. All these organizers have been to multiple Uprisings, and have a strong commitment to the 2026 Uprising. Additionally, volunteers from the 2025 Uprising will be assisting in creating the 2026 Uprising.

Building Intergenerational Community

We expect that about one third of Uprising participants will be in their 20s, 30s and 40s. A majority of participants will probably be over 60, some in their 80s. The Uprising is a wonderful place to create connections across age groups and life experiences. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this intergenerational opportunity. This is your chance to spend time talking with womyn from various age groups and hear new perspectives! The Uprising is small in size to allow for the development of strong community with a diverse group of Lesbians and Amazons.

Access

We want this event to be as accessible as possible. It is very important to us that every Amazon can attend our event and have a good time. If there is an access issue (or more than one) that might limit your attendance, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can find solutions. We want you to come!

Meeting spaces and lodging are indoors, though we do have access to outdoor space for workshops.

We are staying aware of issues regarding COVID, and will keep everyone who registers informed about our COVID policies.

Community Agreements

The Uprising is a drug and alcohol-free event. This includes recreational cannabis. We take this policy seriously, and will ask you to leave if you are using non-prescription drugs or alcohol at the event. Please, no smoking indoors or use of fragrance. The venue will have designated outdoor smoking areas. Please use social media only in private spaces. Do not bring weapons to the event.

Location

The Uprising will take place in northwest Arkansas in the Ozark Mountains area. Our venue is located reasonably near the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA). Uber and other ground transportation services are available at XNA to take you to the venue. If we are able, we will provide rides from the airport.

The Ozark Mountains offer a variety of outdoor activities, including a visit to the first National River, the Buffalo River, located east of the more populated areas. The mild temperatures of autumn in the Ozarks make hiking local trails and boating on area lakes enjoyable.

This is an ideal time to visit this corner of Arkansas. Attractions include the Museum of Native American History and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art to the north. To the south is Devil’s Den State Park with caves to explore, horse and hiking trails, canoeing, and rental cabins.

The University of Arkansas campus is located in nearby Fayetteville. You’ll probably be interested to know that for a brief time in the late 1970s/early 80s there existed on campus a group of lesbian activists calling themselves Razordykes (after the UA Razorback sports teams).

Perhaps you’ll want to come early or stay several days after the Uprising to explore our beautiful hills and hollers, creeks and streams.

Registration

We will begin registration on June 15. Since space is limited, we hope you will register early. Please make your plans to attend the entire Uprising, which will open on Thursday afternoon and end on Monday morning. We discourage part time attendance.
